Obtaining information about Spanish waters used to be difficult, but now it’s getting easier thanks to the recently launched Go-Fishing-Spain website by James Clear.
James has made a sterling job of providing, directions, maps, and valuable information about many locations to fish, be it course or sea!
I was so impressed with the layout and simplicity of the site. I just had to contact James and complement him.
Mapping and reviewing waters is something I have done myself (up here), in and around Madrid, but as of yet I have not made my research public.
I suggested to James that I fill-in the Madrid gap, since there are few waters within 100km radius of Madrid I haven’t seen. I have since sent James basic info’s about 3 waters local to Madrid.
The website currently covers waters in Andalucía, Aragon, Catalonia, Comunidad Valenciana, Madrid, and Murica, this coupled with recent information regarding rod license required, where to buy it, day tickets fee’s incurred, average weights of fish – there’s plenty to get you started.
The site is compliment to James book: Carp, Barbel and Paella: A Guide to Fishing in Andalucia (Ring-bound). You can buy the book for £12.95 in anticipation of your arrival, perfect reading for your journey over.
