Interview with Peter Staggs!

January slipped by in a wink and I barely had time to get bankside for a fish!

I did however have the great pleasure of spending quality time with probably the nicest man in Spanish fishing – Peter Staggs.

For those of you that don’t know Peter and his work, he’s a proffesional specimen angler, top guide and wild-life photographer in Spain. According to many Peter brought carp fishing, boilie and the catch and release concept to Spain. Peter lives on the lakes in Ruidera with is wife Janet and family and as you can imagine has a plethora of large carp and monster comizo barbel under his belt.

We met this time as Peter was promoting his new ornithology venture and representing the Ruidera and Castilla La Mancha corner at a major tourism trade show at the exhibition centre IFEM in Madrid.

He stayed in Madrid for the best part of a week, which was great as it gave us plenty of time to chat. Sadly a 24hr. viral illness knocked me for 5, during the same week so I wasn’t as progressive as I would normally be, but we did manage to grab an interview which can now be downloaded from here so not all was lost!

If you do check the interview, please let me know what you think, and leave feedback in the comments section just at the bottom of this page. The inteview gives the insight and information about Peter, his approach to fishing and his future plans, as does his webstie here: Ruidera Adventure

During the same week I also managed to meet with Stephen Buss from Carp & Catbussters. Peter and Stephen are now colaborating together with their guiding services. Stephen has been nailing stacks of large Catfish on the Ebro for sometime now, he was telling me about his recent January session where he bagged thirty 30 plus carp in 30 nights! An impressive hall.
