The whurring sound of reels alarms seems like long ago! I suppose it’s only fair, as last year was a cracker, and my first years fishing in Spain. I put well over 120 double figure fish on the bank, so I have no complaints.
In January I did manage to get out to my new water here. With the exception of the
one slow take – which I missed, doh, I have nothing to show for my winter bank time.
This month I couldn’t take the slow pace of the new water, so I moved back to my old faithful run’s water in San Martine de la Vega, arrgh. It’s not been any better, just one recent pasty seen in the photo right
It’s been a very mild winter this year, with less than 3 days which I can actually remember any sort of frost. You would think this would bring the fish on, it hasn’t!
I keep telling myself «the fish will come», last two sessions we have tried to do a reportage feature for the new carp and predator magazine I am working with CARPdiem but since we had just a Crucian Carp to show in two sessions we had to bin the article, or at least put it on hold till we start getting some proper fish!
The magazine
is a play on words from:»Carpe Diem, which when translated means -«seize the day – for tomorrow you may not be here».
We are living the CARPdiem lifestyle and with Carp fishing you have to, but for our recent labour we have only just a few pasty’s to show!
It’s a shame as out here you don’t see any reportage style articles in magazines, and that’s what we have been trying to do. We wanted to kick start the magazine and make a good job, and really give some tips and tricks, trouble is we couldn’t winkle much out!
The fish were not playing so it’s back to the office and drawing board. This Friday I could be putting a session in on Buendia which I hope, will throw something up, and if it does the report will go in!
This rather long soell of blanks has knocked my confidence somewhat, but I know my fishing is worthy of fish, let’s see, every blank session I do, I am one session closer to a good fish and a few!
Perhaps the fish gods will be kind, either way you can be sure I will let you know….
May the fish be with you!
