This weekend, I am have the grand pleasure of going to fish a lake which holds my record fish or personal best (PB Carp), yes, I will get a chance to fish a lake called Buendia near Guadalajara just north of Madrid, in the province of Castilla La Mancha. The said record fish I caught just over a year ago, and it was special for several reasons, first of all I caught it on May 1st 2005 a Day, I wont forget, I shouldnt forget. I wont forget it as it was, is and will be mothers day!
On that day in 2005, I had the pleasure of my Mother visiting me here in Spain, of course a day fishing with your Mother means a pic-nic was swiftly organised. Not only did we feast on the finest local jammon serrano, but we had some local Tempranillo wine to wash it down, coupled with lashing of sunshine.
Actually the beast was a mirror carp of almost luminous orange colour, when I say beast it’s relative as my monster actually weighed in at about 12.kg so for those British anglers a snippet over 26lbs. I´d say it was a bonny fish!
I have not had chance to re-visit Buendia much since, but I know it holds fish to 20kg plus, as you can imagine, I am hoping to beaat my personal best and take out another beauty perhaps of the 15Kg mark, which is my new target. You can expect a full report here as of Sunday night or Monday morning. At worst myself and Veronica will just take time under the umbrella and chill, at best, I will have another peach of a carp in the net. Only time will tell. Tight lines.
