Convulsionó las carpas – Feeding carp into a frenzy

Septiembre es siempre el año nuevo para mí. Es la nueva temporada. Digo esto como mi año recorre los años escolares. Como yo trabajo como profesor también. Al inicio de cualquier nueva temporada siempre es bueno para coger unos cuantos peces y la práctica algunas tácticas nuevas. Teniendo esto en cuenta, nos fuimos a Valymayor en Madrid.
Como aparece en mi revista CARPdiem, numero 09 con Peter Staggs en la portada, este es el mejor lugar para empezar carpfishing. Es un lago lleno de carpas!

Al amanecer llegamos y conducir hasta el lago. La luz de la mañana era clásico y hermoso, con rosas y el color típico de Valmayor. Los peces fueron saltando como de costumbre, todo se veía bien. Pescamos un punto que había mucho aguas abiertas, con profundidades, rocas, limpios y partes que varían. En muy corto distancia hay casi 3m.

Tuvimos muchas opciones y zonas para pescar, pero teníamos que encontrar primero a los carpas. Después de aproximadamente 1hr. conseguí mi primer carpa royal unas 6.4kg. Sace este pez desde 6 meter de agua. Esta era la señal que necesitábamos. Sabíamos ya que donde fueron los peces y que distancia y que profundidad era.

No habia mucho tiempo para localizar las carpas ni estimulan nos amigos un un autentico frenesí. Ponemos el maíz con nuestros cohetes y el spomb en una distancia de 75 o 80 metros. Lanzando 10 cohetes cada 1hr. casi todos los horas, mantenimiento de la carpa buscando. Estoy seguro de que cuando un pez encuentra un cebo en un entorno competitivo como este, que emiten una señal o una vibración que estimula a otros peces en el modo de búsqueda. Digo esto después de ver como los cangrejos y cómo reaccionan cuando se aplica comida. Los cangrejos fueron movimientos locos y hecho de una manera agresivo, que saltó, vibró y se movió de una manera que dio una señal y sonido que atraer más cangrejo a la zona para mirar que pasa.

Alimentando a poco ya menudo en un punto o distancia los peces se mantuvieron constantemente buscando. Cualquier cebo amarilla como el maíz las carpas encontró rápidamente. Entonces si quiera obtener una picada rápida tienes te poner algo amarillo. Yo quería para seleccionar un poco el tamaño de los peces, por lo que yo estaba usando algo un poco más grande que sólo maíz. Entonces fui a VITAL k12 con un grano de maíz encima. Como tu sabes, casi siempre pesca yo con un helicopter rig, pero en este ocasión el fixed inline de 100g era fenomenal.

Yo estaba muy contento con los resultados del dia. Todos nosotros, Raúl y Angel había picadas cuádruple y momentos de caos con dos peces en un momento. No hemos pescado durante el puente, y ahora creo este era una buena idea. Hemos disfrutado de tener todo el lago a nosotros mismos ya la captura de más de 25 carpas entre nosotros en menus de 10hr. Como es normal en Valmayor no hay ninguna monstruos pero hemos tenido un día divertido.

September signals the start of a new year for me. I say this as my year runs around school years especially as I work as a teacher. At the start of any new season it´s always good to catch a few fish. Keeping this in mind we went to Valymayor in Madrid. As featured in my magazine CARPdiem issue 9 with Peter Staggs on the cover , this is the best place to start carpfishing in Madrid, and bag up.
At dawn we drove to the lake. The light in the morning was classic with pinks and colour typical of Valmayor. Fish were jumping too, everything looked good. We fished a point which had lot´s of open water with varying depths from 3m to 10m.

At very short range 1 rod length out, we had 3mt. of depth. We had lots of options, rocks and snags but first we needed to find the fish. After 1hr. I landed my first carp, catching it from 6 meters of water. This was the sign we needed. We now knew now where the fish were.

It didnt take long to locate them, but when we started to pile in bait on top of them, we stimulated them into a frenzy. We put maize with our rockets and Spomb, and launched it about 70 metres, we did this little and often, keeping the carp looking for bits. I am sure that when a fish finds a bait in a competative environment like this lake, they give off a signal or vibration which stimulates other fish into search mode. I say this as after watching crayfish recently and watching how they reacted when food was admitted, it´s easy to see just how crazy species can go! The Cray were whipped into a state making movements, jumping, flipping, dancing and fighting all of which gave it away, and attracted more Cray to the zone, a real positive signal attracting more and more Cray to the zone.

By feeding in this style, little and often, on a particular spot the fish were kept constantly looking for food, and consequently our alarms did not stop all day! Anything yellow like maize or a boilie was most quickly found by any passing carp and eaten with haste. For a quick fix, all you needed do was put something yellow on your hair-rig, chuck it in, and it was off. I wanted to try to select, and up size the fish I caught, so later on, I used a bigger bait in the shape of a 20mm K12 from VITAL topped with plasic corn. I was more than happy with the results. We caught more than 25 fish, in less than 11hr of fishing, and some of the bleeders still got away!

I have said before in my magazine CARPdiem, this venue Valmayor, is without doubt the best venue near Madrid, to try and catch large numbers of carp without having to do a night session. Arm wrenching stuff, all good fun…
