The most eagerly awaited event of the year has begun. The Orient World Cup Classic probably the most prestigious prize in the World of Carp fishing.
This year it’s been extended to 114 hours, making this enduro fishing, 6 days & 5 nights not for the faint of heart. With a 100% rise in prizes taking the total to a staggering £50,000 – there be plenty to fish for!
Not just cash can be had, there is a real chance that some lucky Angler will break a European or world record with a single fish, they certainly live in Lac D’Orient.
Competitors have traveled to France from all over thw world including Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Holland, England, Poland, Switzerland, USA, Wales and I am pleased to say Spain.
I dont know the full Spanish line-up but I believe it consists of Miguel Martine, Oscar, Jorge, David and a couple of others from the webcarp and team webcarp world. This to my knowledge is the first time a Spanish national has team have entered in pursuit of the big prize, good effort, I wish them best of luck.
The official sponsor Dynamite Baits have regular updates on their web site, but with media interest from the likes of 3 French TV channels, Sky and the BBC, it’s not just Dynamite Baits keeping an eye on this one!
One way or another someone is going to be drinking a bottle of Champaign and celebrating and I know who I have got my money on!
