Spawning Carp in Spain

Carpas sobando!
Carpas sobando!
Last weekend I decided not to go fishing, I have noticed many Carp and Barbel in the local lakes spawning. These species here are not protected by a closed season, like we have in the United Kingdom. Spain has no close season or breeding time for carp or barbel.

My friend Paco went fishing however, he went back to the massive lake I mentioned before in an earlier post. The lake called Buendia in Castilla La Mancha. I have been getting reports from the Spanish fishing community that four anglers from the Fanaticarp collective managed to bag upwards of 75 carp in a few days from Buendia or Entrepenas another massive lake situated nex to Buendia. It seems like if you can find the fish at this time of the year you can haul.

Paco just returned and confirmed that he also managed a total of 25 Carp and Barbel during his recent session. Max. weight Carp 10.4kg, Barbel 5kg. The fish in this region are on really getting their heads down after spawning out.
